barleybase A chilling and mystifying account of the power of nature. Harrowing melodies shine through in well crafted compositions from both artists. Time just seems to melt away when listening to this epic collaboration. Favorite track: Green Magick Fading.
Kylmmys

Kylmmys Moulderyawn and Robes of Snow was a collaboration that was just waiting to happen and it finally did. Both sides brought in their A game into this collab and it shows. From the first two tracks from Moulderyawn that set the rich atmospheric mood that then transitions into Robes of Snow's two dence and magical tracks. It all culminates in the last track of the album where both bands contribute parts to create a beautiful instrumental masterpiece to end of the album. Favorite track: Green Magick Fading.

tr_🇺🇦 A generous one hour split of two complementing ABM bands. The 2nd track shows what Moulderyawn is capable of. Harsh guitars and loud vocals are pivotal, good progression, unobtrusive synths. The vocal performance in the first half is my favourite part. He sets the bar high for Robes of Snow which delivers an excellent, catchy and expansive 3rd song. Complete with short ambient/folk sections, even some strings... Favorite track: Winter Knelt Before the Doomed Tree.
Fen Wraith

Fen Wraith Atmospheric brutality. A perfect ABM release.

Lichtmensch It is very clear when you listen to these songs that this is not merely a split but a true collaboration. A beautiful album from two of the hottest bands in the genre right now, that you should NOT sleep on!

(The Bluebells Knell) Somewhere my sense awakens In a field of flowers blooming and basking in the sun I wander atop flowing waves of petals Dancing in the wind Dancing Heaving The spring, in full swing But a chill greets us In this garden of life anew Spring has only just begun Winter you are not welcome, Begone Yet the branches wave And creeks shiver The chorus birds have ceased their song Where hath they gone? Where has life gone? Why hath golden light shed to grey? Dancing Heaving The spring in full swing This mighty wind comes a-blowing again Ripping and tearing this wood of its life Taking and reaping whatever in its way Now I pay for my scorn If only I had heed winters come Everything around me begins to dance And takes to the sky You've taken the heart and the song from this forest Don't leave me here to linger on Take me away, please take me wherever it may be

No morn, nor shine to rise these eyes Drab and grey troubles the sky The taste of dew evades my lips No flowers to smell, my sense absent Why are the paths I had once known Now nothing but where an ill wind roams The trees are all splintered and black to the touch Crackling with death, shedding like husk The fauna lie cold and dead on the ground Covered in dirt, mouldering now This passion I'd once knew for this place Warps into anger, by plight I am shaped I feel it all fading fast Whatever's left in me Simply will not last Unable to save them My pain is penance Our haven disheveled Wrought by ignorance My efforts were feeble And all now fades All is now is lost My weakness the cause Fading fast I cry out and beg and bargain the sky Take me instead, let it be me who dies Please, give me but a chance To fill these woods with green again Fault and blame must fall on those It weighs my shoulders It must weigh yours How could joy sprout here now? What song could now be sung? What fruit could be bore here? How could life go on? I've learned to lose And I will take what little life thrives on And I'll carry it somewhere safe In patience I'll wait for it grow And when we leave this place Where will we go from here? Where will we go?

robesofsnow.bandcamp.com/album/when-the-last-forest-has-died

In an abrupt awakening, The Green Wizard of tale sluggishly rises to greet the spring, yet he is met with silence. The sun does not rudely blind him awake. The leaves do not whisper in the breeze, the birds do not sing their choir song. There is only stillness.
Patchworks of frost lattice the ground before him.

"Surely that old groundhog did not see his shadow this year"
he grumbles to himself.
"Friends, wake up! Spring is here!"
There is only a resounding silence.

Then, a sensation - on all fronts. Something akin to a hurricane washes over. Trees begin to rapture into the sky, Streams mist into the air like vapor. Creatures hopelessly fleeing into every direction. Everything before him muddies together into a grey churning painting. He is unable to save anything from this devastating force.
In the ruin of what was once a forest, he is bent to his knees by the weight of this reality. All he knew was lost. He beckons out and bargains the skies, but only the soft whisper of snowfall replies.

Nature is the basis of the Divine. It oversees the changing of the seasons and the cycles of life and death. But humans are part of nature as well. With our arrogance and our higher levels of cognitive functioning, we can take our survival instincts and pervert them with greed, ambition, and thoughtless abandon. How do we as humans reconcile having an aspect of the divine within us, yet also having our animalistic selves that have the power that can eschew balance without considering how it could impact the earth?

We all carry Winter within us. We may walk through the woods and be enchanted by the green, but we will also invite the storm that will inevitably lay waste to the land. It often happens quietly between dreams. Our ignorance accumulates in the shadows of the forest while our gaze lies elsewhere. And with time, we walk the forest but are also winter, and so are tasked beyond our will to destroy where we live. Old Man Winter is doomed to bring an end to all things but remembers the many seasons when he walked down the well-worn paths and lived in its shade. Cursed to not notice while he sows ruin, only to remember as the trees fall and life gets muffled at his feet. But since man is of Winter, he also knows that the world will rebalance itself, even if he himself is the sacrifice to provide restoration. There is always something that survives and grows again, even if it is born out of sadness. The Last will become the first, and the seasons will eventually come again. They always do.

This is a collaborative album constructed by the minds behind Moulderyawn & Robes of Snow. The initial idea for this album was to follow the concept of the very last forest dying and what The Green Wizard goes through trying to save it, but ultimately being unable to do so. When he cries up to the skies, Old man Winter descends with the snow.

And yet, Halfway through the writing of this album, Moulderyawn & Robes of Snow came across a newfound inspiration. The events surrounding the Chernobyl Disaster (which initially took place on April 26th, 1986, in Ukraine) had shocking similarities to the story they were writing about. After what is considered to be the worst nuclear disaster in history, Natural life in the exclusion zone appears to be thriving, despite being under the smog of radiation. That threat of radiation which forces humans out of the zone seemingly acts as a sanctuary for this wildlife. And though a devastating and deadly incident took place, leaving the land barren and poisoned, life returned. This is a proud statement that in the end, even despite these horrific dangers man has made, nature will always prevail.
