(The Bluebells Knell)
Somewhere my sense awakens
In a field of flowers blooming and basking in the sun
I wander atop flowing waves of petals
Dancing in the wind
Dancing
Heaving
The spring, in full swing
But a chill greets us
In this garden of life anew
Spring has only just begun
Winter you are not welcome, Begone
Yet the branches wave
And creeks shiver
The chorus birds have ceased their song
Where hath they gone?
Where has life gone?
Why hath golden light shed to grey?
Dancing
Heaving
The spring in full swing
This mighty wind comes a-blowing again
Ripping and tearing this wood of its life
Taking and reaping whatever in its way
Now I pay for my scorn
If only I had heed winters come
Everything around me begins to dance
And takes to the sky
You've taken the heart and the song from this forest
Don't leave me here to linger on
Take me away, please take me wherever it may be

No morn, nor shine to rise these eyes
Drab and grey troubles the sky
The taste of dew evades my lips
No flowers to smell, my sense absent
Why are the paths I had once known
Now nothing but where an ill wind roams
The trees are all splintered and black to the touch
Crackling with death, shedding like husk
The fauna lie cold and dead on the ground
Covered in dirt, mouldering now
This passion I'd once knew for this place
Warps into anger, by plight I am shaped
I feel it all fading fast
Whatever's left in me
Simply will not last
Unable to save them
My pain is penance
Our haven disheveled
Wrought by ignorance
My efforts were feeble
And all now fades
All is now is lost
My weakness the cause
Fading fast
I cry out and beg and bargain the sky
Take me instead, let it be me who dies
Please, give me but a chance
To fill these woods with green again
Fault and blame must fall on those
It weighs my shoulders
It must weigh yours
How could joy sprout here now?
What song could now be sung?
What fruit could be bore here?
How could life go on?
I've learned to lose
And I will take what little life thrives on
And I'll carry it somewhere safe
In patience I'll wait for it grow
And when we leave this place
Where will we go from here?
Where will we go?
